1998-2000: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/SUPERVISING CURATOR
Implemented policy guidelines for curators in the disciplines of History, Anthropology, Paleontology, Geology, Education, Biology and Exhibits. Supervised activities related to collections development, care and use. Coordinated the annual budget-planning process; assisted in the development of grant proposals and related applications. Maintained professional involvement with peers. Provided direction and leadership for the Branch Museum program. Maintained standards of performance for subordinate staff, including evaluations and discipline as needed. Supervised facilities and security personnel. Acted for the Director in his absence.
1995-1998: CURATOR OF SPECIAL COLLECTIONS, ACTING REGISTRAR, ACTING CURATOR OF ANTHROPOLOGY, ACTING CURATOR OF HISTORY
Approved and directed the acquisition, preservation and curation of artifacts for the museum’s collections in the disciplines of history and anthropology. Coordinated security and emergency concerns for the museum and all its branches. Planned, organized and directed divisional activities, evaluated and trained staff. 1993-1995: ASSISTANT DIRECTOR/SUPERVISING CURATOR
Supervised the curatorial and collections management staff and their activities, exhibition preparation, educational programming, and interpretation for the museum and its branch operations, divisional budgets, security staff, administrative personnel, and facility staff. Curated Special Collections materials, prepared personnel evaluations and acted for the Museum Director in his absence.
1991-1993: DEPUTY DIRECTOR FOR INTERNAL AFFAIRS
Supervised collections management activities, exhibition preparation, educational programming and interpretation for the museum and its branch operations. Helped develop divisional budgets, coordinated and implemented the museum’s Emergency Plan. Prepared personnel evaluations.
1990-1991: CURATOR OF SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
Identified, classified, catalogued and preserved materials in the Special Collections Division; solicited and evaluated donations, assisted patrons, designed and installed temporary exhibits; and supervised the operation of the Mousley Museum of Natural History.
1985-1990: REGISTRAR
Responsible for accessioning, deaccessioning, inventorying, loaning, insuring, shipping and packing, storing and preserving artifacts. Developed and maintained record systems for object control; supervised aides and volunteers; developed and administered divisional budget.
